Erasmus+ Sport Mobility Opportunity in Belgium

The Erasmus+ Programme, one of the European Union’s most significant initiatives in the fields of education, youth, and sport, continues to support projects that are more inclusive, innovative, digital, and environmentally friendly. With a budget of over €26 billion, the program offers new opportunities for international cooperation and professional development across Europe.

Thanks to improved accessibility and more flexible mobility formats, Erasmus+ enables organizations and individuals to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and develop new perspectives. The wide range of projects available through the program targets people of all ages who wish to actively shape their future.

Supporting the Development of Amateur Sports

The Erasmus+ program plays an important role in strengthening sports organizations involved in amateur sports. Through international mobility activities, sports organizations can enhance their institutional capacity and provide new learning opportunities for their staff.

Mobility activities organized with partner organizations abroad allow sports professionals to gain international experience, develop their professional skills, and acquire new competencies that contribute to the growth of their organizations.

Types of Mobility Activities

Sports professionals working in sports organizations can participate in several types of activities in cooperation with international partner organizations:

  • Job Shadowing – observing and learning from professionals in partner organizations

  • Coaching Activities – sharing coaching practices and training methods

  • Training and Capacity Building Activities – improving professional skills and knowledge

These activities help build a strong European network of sports professionals, while also promoting common European values and collaboration in the sports sector.

Project Duration and Participation

Sports organizations can implement Erasmus+ mobility projects for a duration of 3 to 18 months.

The activities themselves may last:

  • Job shadowing and practical training: 2–14 days

  • Coaching and training activities: 7–45 days

These projects are primarily designed for coaches and sports professionals working in amateur sports organizations.

Participation conditions include:

  • Participants can be full-time employees or volunteers within the organization

  • There is no age limit for participants

  • Each project can include a maximum of 10 participants

  • Participants cannot join the mobility activities as athletes, but as sports professionals

Financial support provided through the Erasmus+ program depends on the number of participants, the duration of activities, and the destination country.

Preparatory Visits and International Cooperation

In order to establish strong partnerships and ensure successful implementation of mobility activities, organizations may also organize preparatory visits with their international partners. These visits help partners plan long-term cooperation and prepare mobility activities more effectively.

The Erasmus+ mobility opportunity in Belgium provides an excellent chance for sports professionals to gain international experience, learn new training methods, and strengthen collaboration within the European sports community.
